So much has been happening these past few months–tons of new design work, making travel arrangements to attend Surtex next May, and working up postcards to send to art directors that our collective would like to work with.
Putting ourselves “out there”, out into the highly competitive world of surface pattern design is a little scary, but when you’re following your passion, you take a deep breath and just go for it!
I’m so thankful to be part of Camp Collective. Our little band of merry artists is so supportive and everyone is more than willing to do whatever needs to be done to make our first showing at Surtex a success.
We’ve designed three different postcards introducing Camp Collective– a floral themed one, one with holiday designs, and one with novelty/conversation prints. We had the postcards printed at www.moo.com and I couldn’t be more pleased with how they turned out. The designs are crisp, the colors are vibrant, and the luxe feel of the thick card stock makes for a lovely impression!
Next up is designing each of our banners which will cover the walls of our Surtex booth and working on our Blurb books. I have found that putting together the Blurb book has been a good exercise to force me to organize my design files, and also to identify patterns that need a bit of tweaking.
The closer the day for Surtex gets, the more excited I am. I know it will be an amazing experience, and I am looking forward to meeting so many of my fellow designers in person after being friends online for the past few years. Eeek! It is going to be so fun!
